OCCP Legislative Platform
Purpose: The purpose of the Ohio College of Clinical Pharmacy (OCCP) Legislative Platform is to support the OCCP vision, that is, to advance the common interests of clinical pharmacists to enhance patient care. The Platform establishes the foundation for advocacy efforts for and by licensed clinical pharmacist members practicing in the State of Ohio with the Legislative branches of the State of Ohio and the U.S. Government, and with the Regulatory branches of the State of Ohio. The Platform will serve as a means to proactively structure advocacy positioning around organizational purposes including but not limited to:
promotion of the rational use of medications in society;
advancement of the principles and practice of clinical pharmacy in the state of Ohio;
promotion of full time, advanced practice of clinical pharmacy;
advancement of state-of-the-art research in clinical pharmacy
an advanced level of continuing education programs in the area of clinical pharmacy;
Process: Key legislative issues identified within the Platform by the Advocacy Committee will be updated annually and approved by the OCCP Steering Committee/Board. Collaborative action determined by the Advocacy Committee will be undertaken engaging subject matter experts within the organization and across professional organizations within the State of Ohio and nationally. These issues will be communicated to membership through the OCCP Newsletter Legislative Update and the Advocacy Forum.
